Having been in SL for as long as I have, I have to admit that in the last many years I have basically used the same head (LAQ) and body (Maitreya) . There was no desire to change either the head or the bodies of my main avatar or my “working alts”. Then last year for the holidays Lelutka put out a free head for their members.
The product may be free, but it takes hours to make the change unless you are already familiar with the process. I spent hours, getting the Lelutka head to produce a “look” that I felt comfortable with. No matter what is said, if you change the head, the makeup/skin you were wearing is just not going to pop but on and you will have the same look as you had before.
The News group has a staff of at least 6, regular avatars, and a couple who only work from time to time IF there is a need. I saw that LOGO also had a head, so between the Lelutka and the Logo, I was hours on end doing make overs.

I can’t tell you how many You Tube videos I watched on changing over from one head to another. Suffice to say, it was an exercise that took up many hours.
Each head has something going for it, all that I have mentioned here can use the Lelutka EvoX skins. That is a plus, you can try on a demo head and then try the various skins you think you might want to use with the head.
After weeks and weeks of working with the Lelutka and the Logo heads I thought I was done with the revamping of the models and photographers of the News group. Wrong! I happened to sit down and up popped a video on the new Era2 head by LaQ ... I had to try it. The head is waiting for further attention, because I was then distracted by the Catwa head, Reema. It is the animations that happen with the Catwa head…. I was totally mesmerized by the personality that evolved before my eyes. Let’s say I was charmed.
This is what happens. If you have any kind of relationship with the avatar you are working on, you know that each avatar has his/her own character and personality. What you want from the avatar, how much time you spend with it, and what are its intended functions.?? In this case Bee is a researcher and model for Virtualnws8 so I wanted her to have her own sense of style and interests.
I had given her a Lelutka head, then a LOGO head, (both freebies) but just couldn’t get a look that to me mirrored her personality. The Catwa was an instant success. I tried the demo first, then went to try skins at many of the known skin shops, ie. NOT FOUND, Voguel, GLAM AFFAIRE, the SKINNERY all have wonderful selection to pick from, but I wanted one on sale or a group gift, the head was going to cost me close to 4000 linden.
The stars landed me at a shop called ARTA skins, where I was delighted to see that in their group gifts, they had a skin they had made for the Catwa head, Reema. It was 60 linden to join their group, and I got two skins that I really was keen to try with the Reema head. One of the skins, you can tint and there is a link to the video on how to do it.
