Peng Lai is a fairyland above the clouds, where you can see ancient Chinese/Asian art and Taoist culture with architecture, furniture, paintings, decorations of China/Asia .you can relax, enjoy music, meditate, Tai chi, instruments and have tea here.
Over my many years in SL I have gone to and seen many representations of China/Asia … this is the first destination that took my breath away… why… because it brought back memories of my childhood. Some of the rooms, the traditional decor of another era.. when people immigrated to America, they brought with them their cultural philosophies and beliefs.. There were no buildings like you see in this build, but the atmosphere and the alters/ prayer benches ,, paintings.. were recreated in rooms.. so when you walked in, you felt the serenity and the tranquility of the room.
In later years, when traveling to places like San Francisco,CA. USA or Vancouver, BC, Canada.. there were buildings that echoed the designs you see here. As communities grew, and people made North America their home…. the Taoist “retreats” were available for prayer and meditation. North Americans saw movies about Kung Fun, there was an interest in Tai Chi, especially the benefits of learning about the different teas, the herbs, and for fitness, wanting to know how Tai Chi could help maintain healthier bodies and eating “Chinese” (Asian) ” could benefit health and longevity. The philosophy of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan was sought out… and shared. The interest began with the martial arts, students soon learned that a big part of the physical part of Chinese/Asian martial arts.. was only part of the training .. they had to learn to be in tune with their inner self, through meditation and quieting the mind.

On another note.. happy new year to you… we are well into 2026, the Chinese New Year will be Feb. 17… celebrations can run up to 2 weeks or more.. It will be the year of the Horse.
Trow will be playing at Nat’s Jazz Club in Detroit on Tuesday, January 20 th,, he will take the stage at 4 pm slt. If you are unfamiliar with Nat’s it is one of the longest running Jazz Clubs in SL.. and an experience you don’t want to miss. The elegance of the ballroom, the warm and welcoming atmosphere is unlike anything else in SL.. It retains the formal elegant ambience of a club that is there for its members to enjoy. To this end there is a dress code, formal/semi formal.
